first meet this saturday, and now, a survey

Go back to: General discussion

Hi all: welcome to the course.  Having not heard any particular preferences, I'm going to make the first course meeting for this Saturday, the 29th of January, at 17:00 GMT.  If you can't make it at that time please let me know by email (holtzermann17@gmail.com) and we can work out an alternate time.

The meeting will be held over the web, via http://oufm.open.ac.uk/fm/0e39f6-2753 -- just visit that link at the aforementioned time.  You can give the service a test beforehand via http://oufm.open.ac.uk/fm/flashmeeting.php?pwd=demo-demo.

I've also created a short pre-course survey - please do take a few minutes to complete it!

Further material directly relevant to the course subject coming very soon.  :)   In the mean time, please feel free to introduce yourselves to one another via the forum!!

OK, no worries, we can try to find a time that works for everyone who can't make the Saturday meeting!

Hi Abhay: It's fine to share a PC if you have a microphone that can pick up both voices. The meeting is scheduled to last 1 hour.

I don't think we're going to shift this meeting unless there is a major outcry (many have said it works for them) but we can make a second meeting for those who can't make it. Maybe sometime on Sunday?

Notes from the first meeting are at http://piratepad.net/mathgame - which can also serve as a point for coordination and further followup. (There are other pads I will link in there.)

The main conclusion of the meeting seems to have been that we all have different (cool) ideas about what we'd like to work on, and we need to share these with other folks in the course and get to work :)

And a reminder that if you missed the meeting or want to go back over it, the audio and chat transcripts are available at the same link, http://oufm.open.ac.uk/fm/0e39f6-2753

Again, really sorry about having to miss the meeting :(

I'll be catching up in the latter part of the week as I got suddenly reminded by my boss that we have a project deadline for wednesday morning too... bad timing, but hopefully that'll be about it during the course now :)

No worries - first meeting was mainly just to make sure that people have some shared expectations for the course (and it seems that we do). Happy to discuss 1-to-1 any time, just ping me on gtalk (holtzermann17). See also http://piratepad.net/mathgame.
