Fast Company is a business magazine that has enjoyed a lot of success in recent years in the United States. It started out in the mid-1990s, covering mostly the dot.com boom and since has established itself as a magazine that tracks "the next big thing" in business. Green has been a boon for Fast Company. Grassroots and Government

Our second week's materials focus on two important ways that sustainability becomes infused into a community: through grassroots activism and codification by governmental action (ordinances, laws, and so on). Both grassroots and government have their role and limitations. Your assignment asks you to contemplate these and to write about them from your own experiences/perspectives.

Hi, would it be possible to organize all of our weekly assignments that are mentioned in the syllabus into actual course assignments that we can reply to? Also, would it be possible to see the clear due dates of all of the assignments? That would be really helpful for pacing.

First Week's Readings, Listenings, Viewings

I hope you got a sense of sustainability from the materials that is perhaps confusing you--slightly. Sustainability is slippery and becoming even more so as the concept takes hold more in the world and thus, cannot help but become more diffused in its exact meaning. That's ok. It can mean multiple things to multiple audiences.
