Hi all

Case Study 3 is marked, and we are done!

Everyone who handed in the final assignment has passed the assignment and the course. And this time I don't think there are any particular issues that people had trouble with. If you would like to see a particular good and detailed summary of non-CC licence options, see the Aqua answer.

Noncommercial, derivatives and sharealike

Sorry this has taken a while - let me know if anyone thinks they need an extension for the assignment this week as a result.

But here are the group explanations I promised.

Noncommercial
As most of you picked up, there isn't one clear definition of noncommercial. This isn't a problem just for CC - it's increasingly becoming an issue for all copyright licences, as people choose to use noncommercial as a limitation even in non-Cc licences (in fact, I just wrote an essay about this).

Hi all

As most of you will have noticed by now, case study 2 is now marked and up. Sorry that it's a bit past the 'US Monday' - just a busy week.

But congratulations, we're more than halfway!

I'm continuing to be impressed with the standard of the answers - a lot of you pick up issues I hadn't thought of, and you are clearly getting a really excellent handle on the CC system.

The issues that caused the most headaches this week were:
- the definition of noncommercial
- derivatives v collections
- sharealike and compatibility of licences.

Case Study 1 - Marked

Hi all

So we've achieved the first significant milestone - the first case studies have all been handed in and marked. You'll see we seem to have seven groups left, and I've given each group its own page when uploading my comments - I'll explain this in my next post about handing in assignments.

Everyone passed, and I'm glad to see that people seemed to find most of the questions fairly straight forward and easy (that is, of course, the point of the Creative Commons system - to make these things easy).

Groups and first case study

By now everyone should have received an email with their group allocation in it.

Sorry it took so long - the result of a combination of a work emergency and it taking longer than I thought. Because of the delay, I'm giving everyone an extension until Wednesday next week (north and south American time - I'll judge all deadlines based on their dates as theyre the last).
