Greetings web-crafters!

The last class for Basic Python Web Services will be tonight at the
usual time (21:00 PST). Today, we'll go over people's projects. Even
if you're not finished, I'm more curious about how far you got, what
difficulties you had along the way, and what you'd like to do for the
project in that mystical universe where everyone had time to work on
it. I also think it would be helpful (maybe even fun) to share with

Please get to me your ideas for your project today. It should be a webservice and follow the guidelines given in http://k0s.org/mozilla/craft/project.html . Also, the project is *DUE* on the 21st of this month, so only nine days away, so you should start working on it. Feel free to send me interim copies or ping me in the IRC channel if you have any questions.Th

Templates class

Last night, we went through
http://k0s.org/mozilla/craft/templates.html . After this class, you
should be able to:

- make python packages
- use the webob_view template and look at how it works
- create JSON responses with python
- use Genshi HTML templates

I've assigned questions 4-8 from
http://k0s.org/mozilla/craft/questions.html to test and reinforce this
learning. They will be due Tuesday, October 12.

Last night I finished up the basic Python + the Web lesson:

So at this point, you've seen several examples of web services
(albeit, primative ones) and have seen how WebOb makes web programming
easy. As an important self-check, I would advise you to go through
the examples in this lesson and make sure you can run the code and
understand it. Try poking at it, making it do different things. Hit
it with your web browser. Put a pdb in and look at the request

I hope people are learning :)

Last night, we started covering python basics:

including) virtualenv
(http://k0s.org/mozilla/craft/python.html#virtualenv), so we'll start with
this next time.

At this point in the course:
* be sure you have a computer with python installed
* make sure you can run the interactive shell and can follow along
with the a8e.py program
