Very recently I have had to implement a small online shop in a real client project, and I did it with eshop. So I have had some experience in last weeks that help me a little in this exercise, but not entirely because in the real project we have not custom post types.

Congratulations. Welcome to our final week. I've extended the course until the 18th of March so we can have one last assignment and some extra fun. We don’t want you to have too much work this week. After all you’ve already reached this point and that's uber awesome. However we do want you learn something new. So here is what we have planned:

I'm curious if we are going to have the last week5? I can see that many (most) folks has quit the class but there are a few of us still in. It might be discouraging but let's go to the very end anyway, otherwise it'd be like all the previous 5 weeks spent for... well just spent. So will we get the final assignment and the chat?

Since this week the assignment was a bit harder I realized you need a bit extra time a bit extra help.

So, without further due, I made available skeleton code for the custom post type which you can use (this was kindly provided by Danny G Smith):

Week four url and notes

It goes without saying that this is a harder week. Thank goodness WordPress updated to 3.1. It is a lot easier to get archive pages working on custom post types now. My link is http://assignment5.riskiii.me/galleries/ I had forgotten that you have to refresh your permalinks after coding the custom post type, so don't forget or you will be struggling as I did.

Is This Really a Class?

I am somewhat confused as to the nature of this "class." I know I am being critical by posting this and I do not want to be negative, but I"m confused. Basically what we have been receiving is assignments to create different parts of a WordPress blog. This week we are asked to create a plugin that will allow a fictional client to request help from us, the developer, by clicking a help button in the plugin. I'm OK with that part, that's the assignment. What I'm wondering is where is the "Class" part of the course?

As you can see there was some confusion (totally my fault!) about this assignment. Everyone ended up using a poll plugin when in fact the goal was to get people into the creation of a basic widget. If you're interested in that I hope the walkthrough is enough to get you started now :)
