Hello Everyone --
We had a great meeting on Thursday -- sorry to miss those who could not make it. Pat Lockley presented on two amazing OER tools that he created at Nottingham Uni: openattribute.com and the xpert tool. Open Attribute searches for the open license "html code" on web pages to find OER and the xpert OER search engine locates openly licensed material in the wikimedia commons and flickr and will attach the appropriate open license graphic for you so that you can correctly reuse open materials. Please see the meeting archive for Pat's demo of this.

Dear Participants.
Welcome to another week of exploring Open Educational Resources. My director, Jacky Hood, and Open Textbook Author Barbara Illowsky attended the Connexions conference last week in Houston Texas and came back with many wonderful ideas. A genteman from the Vietnam Foundation for OER spoke and announced that their repository has exceeded the Connexions repository in OER modules. Kathi Fletcher, Director of technology at Connexions, announced new changes to make their repository more accessible for international learners. Read Barbara's blog here.
Our community meeting will be at the usual time this week, Thursday, Feb. 17, 4:00 pm, Pacific Standard Time. I hope you can hare project status at this time and I will demonstrate two Creative Commons licensing steps.
1. Searching for open educational resources that are compatible with other licensed materials.
2. Selecting a Creative Commons license and assigning it to OER that you remix or create.
Week 3 on Open Licensing and Accessibility Consideration is underway, please respond to our forum question and keep the discussion going in this wonderful community.
