{Amy's Section} Intro to PHP Weekly Meeting

Go back to: General discussion

Hey all!  Welcome to our little section of the great Intro to PHP course!

Here's some steps:

1. Make sure you're in my section by checking your username against this list:
http://p2pu.org/webcraft/node/13221/document/24157

2. Go to http://whenisgood.net/s9zhhjq and fill out meeting times that are good for you.  We're going to try to keep this time the same every week, so think about what works best for you on a regular basis.  Also be sure to double check your timezone!
2a. When you fill out the schedule, use your P2PU username as your name so I know who's completed the schedule.
2b. In the comments, fill in any preferred communication channels (Skype, Google Chat/Talk, etc.).  We may try to use the Chat here in the course site, but it'll be good to know what else works.

3. I'm 95% sure I'm going to set up a Google Group for course asynchronous communications (it's worked well in the past), but in the meantime, feel free to say hello in the comments here!  Or ask any initial questions.

And now here's a little something fun on an appropriate subject. :D

Thanks!

Hey Amy, just to say I am looking forward to it all. Also, in case, please feel free to ping me if the highlighted time don't really suit and we'll work something out ;-)

Hi! Great to have you here, and glad to see the enthusiasm. :)

And one more step I'd love to see: if you haven't already, as per Matt's suggestion, please put up a picture and add some info to your profiles! It doesn't *have* to be you, for whatever reason, but maybe put in an image of something you recently cooked, or a favorite pet. If you really don't want to, I understand, but FWIW, I'd love to see it. These online courses work a lot better when it's easier to imagine the people at the other end of the line. Thanks, and again, EXCITED!

Hi everyone,
I'm also excited to get started. I've programmed in SAS for a long time, but I'm a beginner in web programming. I dabbled in PHP last summer but it's all a muddle.

Alrighty then. Since I can't see your e-mail addresses, I need you to go to http://groups.google.com/group/amysphpsection and request membership. This will give us a good place for asynchronous communication, including weekly reminders of our meetings and our place in the syllabus, as well as any and all discussion!

if you don't have a google account, please let me know; I think I should be able to invite you to be a member with an outside e-mail as well, but it's been awhile since I tried.

And thanks so much for being so prompt with the whenisgood!
I still need to hear from

Hmmm, Nabble seems to be down. Temporary blip? I hope so... If not, shall we revive the google group?
