Coursework:

The forum will be our starting point for each section. Please refer to the current section. The first posting for each section will outline section objectives and individual objectives will be titled in bold. Please reply to the proper thread and comment to keep us organized. Message me if I need to be more descriptive.

We will chat twice weekly to review assignments and discuss topics. We'll have one assignment (short answers) per week which should take approximately 1 hour to complete. We will also have one team task per week. Assignments will be peer-reviewed. You will be responsible for reviewing 2 of your peer's assignments.

Lesson Structure:

First, you'll check to see a list of the topics we'll be covering. Then, you'll reference the lecture, video, and/or reading for the lesson. After this, we'll work together in small teams (2-3 person teams randomly assigned per lesson) to complete a task pertaining to the lesson. Then you'll submit a short answer assignment individually to be peer reviewed. Lastly, we'll quiz each other in the chat room and discuss any lingering questions about the lesson.

How to Message Each Other:

Please fill this FORM with your contact info and preferred method of communication. I will make the list available to everyone so we don't miss a beat!

When to Use Forums:

As mentioned, we will use forums for two primary purposes: to start lessons with discussion and to post assignments for peer-review.

Forums for sections will have the title of the section and date range of participation. The first post will be from me with a quick summary and the section outline of topics. Each topic will be posted by me as the section proceeds. You will know I've posted a new topic because the title will be bold, as the top of this post shows.

When you want to join the discussion about a topic, be sure to click the 'reply' link in the same box as the posted topic or specific post.

I will post assignments and teams in the initial section post.

To submit assignments, we'll go to the forum aptly labeled 'Assignments.' This is also where we will peer-review each other's work, keeping in mind the same rules about where to reply to keep us organized.

When to Use Chat:

Enter the chatroom by clicking on the 'Chat' link. It's next to the forum link.

We will meet in the chatroom as a class on Mondays and Thursdays at 8pm EST (5pm PST). This session is scheduled for an hour but can go on as long as you want.

In this session, we'll dive into current topics and assignments in detail. I will post the transcript of the chat for your convenience.

The chatroom is available anytime and I encourage teams to utilize it to coordinate each other for accomplishing team tasks. You must schedule this amongst yourselves - just avoid Monday and Thursday evenings.

Syllabus looks good Mark. I would start exploring the web for free/open resources (use the handbook: wiki.p2pu.org/Course-Design-Handbook). Also, you may want to use week 6 for exploring a critical view on growing in addition to exploring legality and protecting crops from vandalism. Once you have some resources up, we can open the course for registration.
