Farhad - Salaam. I'm sorry that it is difficult for you to buy the book. I tried to look for a pdf online but did not find one. In the mean time you can make do with reading the Natashas on Google Book, some pages are missing but by and large you will be able to do most of the reading. Here is the link: http://books.google.com/books?id=Im1GZxncqkUC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Nat...

Greetings to all. Thank you Marija for teaching this course. I am very grateful to have this opportunity.

I am interested in learning more about trafficking as it is a very big problem in the world and in my country India. Many of our women are trafficked and as a society we have failed them. It is my hope that through learning more about this topic, I will be able to do something about it.

Best,
Rashmi

I have some questions on the syllabus -

What are we going to do on our blogs?

What tools are we going to use for meeting?

Resource:
Link to watch Lilya 4-ever online on Google Videos for free - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2818582001271029300#

Hi Marija,

I just read Sasha's story. As a woman froma developing country my understanding was that such things only happened to women in the third country. I never thought that traffickign was an issue in the Western world as well, especially Europe. Ofcourse the czech Republic in the 1990s was a very different world, but now I am present to the fact that women can be enslaved in any country of the world.

Another misunderstanding I had was that since prostitution is legal in Amsterdam, the industry is more humane than those in developing countries. However by reading Sasha's story now I know that the same tactics are used by men to traffic and enslave women everywhere.

Yes! It's happening everywhere. That's the common thinking that trafficking is taking place only in the third world countries. You can follow my Human Trafficking Twitter account for current news: http://twitter.com/stopHT

Greetings to all!
I'm Robert.

I'm currently serving with the Peace Corps in Sub-Saharan Africa, working on HIV and Nutrition issues. I'm interested in learning about how to reduce/prevent trafficking because it's about the most awful idea a person can imagine.
My favourite color is blue.

Note to Marija:
I think I will also suffer from Mr. Rahimi's problem: I've put out a call to the parents to ship the book here, but I am uncertain as to whether and when it will actually arrive, the mail service here being what it is.
