The rest of the course will be done through video and chat.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hello, how do you think to cope with different time zones when sorting up chat sessions? Thanks
I created a new forum, which gives my information for the instant messengers. I will not hold chat sessions, instead I will just be available for chat as long as I'm online. So if you add me to messenger, you should see me online and you can ask me questions anytime.
Hi Frank, are we going to use the IRC channel listed on here as well? I think it would be a good option - you don't have to repeat the same thing multiple times.
Yes, i can try and use the IRC, i will be more available on my messengers, but does anyone know how to put the IRC maybe into my messenger? I've never used IRC before.
I believe you can you use Pidgin to connect to multiple chat networks, including IRC.
Thanks Tyler, I was able to get IRC integrated to my Adium messenger. Now everyone can contact me through the IRC Channel at #p2pu-linux-fundamentals-and-certification
Hi,
On which server can we find the IRC channel? IRCnet?
Ok, I found you at freenode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freenode)
Hi There,
Thanks lot
Sen
Hi Sen,
I'm pretty new to IRC. It is a really useful tool to learn as alot of people with the tech community use it. I have used it on many occassions when I have got stuck with something and need a quick answer.
"When I click chat, it is asking for Account, Room, Server, Handle, Password. Can someone please tell me what i need to fill in with."
in account try (???)
server irc.freenode.net
in room put #p2pu-linux-fundamentals-and-certification
handle -pick a username
password - i think you'll be able to leave this blank
i got the above info from:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=644840
by googling
'irc Account, Room, Server, Handle, Password'
Everything is filled out for you by default except the handle. All you need to do is type a username that you would like to use and then connect.
