The course will start on the posted start date. I'm just trying to put some things together before hand, as this is my first time teaching any class. Any OS will be sufficient, we will be working through terminal the entire course.

Hi all.

Good to meet you all. I am running Debian 6.0.1 and have had to sort out quite a few bugs, so if anyone needs any help with, send me a message and I'll try to help!

I will be using whichever distribution is recommended and run it on a virtual machine. http://www.virtualbox.org/

This seems a good way to compartmentilize projects.

I recommend everyone downloading Virtual Box, as well as a Linux Distro they would like to use.

Virtual Box can be downloaded here:
http://www.virtualbox.org/

I will be using Cent OS for my distro of choice which can be downloaded here.

I can see the vids in either links you recommended, but for a central point does make sense to have the vides on video.linux.com provided of course everyone can access video.linux.com also, as I understand it, I have ubuntu on my machine, I have to download virtualbox and another linux distro like centos ?

You can use Ubuntu if you would like. I will be using CentOS for my demonstrations, which is Red Hat Based. To install packages will be slightly different between both types of systems Red Hat and Debian, but I will try and let you know when you should be using different commands based on the OS.
