Browser Support for HTML5?

Go back to: General discussion

I would like to start a discussion about browser support for HTML5. This web page grades your current browser in various categories as to how well it supports various HTML5 features:

http://html5test.com/

It would probably be a good idea for everyone to run it on the various browser you have installed. I tested it on the latest Firefox, IE8, Chrome, Safari and Opera. The results are a very mixed bag.

In the area of forms support, this site also shows that support for HTML5 is a bit haphazard:

Lacking browser support for HTML5 forms there is a project that has been created to emulate HTML5 forms support:

http://www.useragentman.com/blog/2010/07/27/cross-browser-html5-forms-using-modernizr-webforms2-and-html5widgets/

I have not yet installed modernizr, webforms2 and html5Widgets but I will probably take a look at it over the weekend.

I woudl be very interested in other's experience exploring HTML5 features in current browsers - especially forms support.

Which version of Firefox are you using? Have you tried IE9 beta?

Using FF 3.6.10; I did not try IE9 yet.

I was specifically interested in the two set of form features in HTML5: "form inputs" & "form attributes."
