Drupal 6 or 7?

Go back to: General discussion

I missed the introductory session because I only applied for the course that same day.  And, the video doesn't appear to be available yet.  Was it discussed whether we'll be covering v6 or v7?  I would assume that it will be v6 since v7 is still in alpha.  But, I'd like to get a test site going as I work through the course and using the same version may help.

Thanks.

This course will be covering both. We'll be building mainly in Drupal 6, but we will try out Drupal 7. Most of the free materials available are on Drupal 6 right now.

The orientation video will be up today.

The good news is that a great deal of the ideas and concepts of D6 apply also to D7.
Even though CCK in D6 is now "Fields" in D7 core, how you add them and manipulate them is virtually the same.
For a great D7 resource check out Jacob Redding's book: http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Drupal-Wrox-Programmer/dp/0470438525
There are also MANY D7 videos on youtube and elsewhere. And don't forget that http://Drupal.org/planet is THE place to go for the latest blogs, tutorials, and videos that come out every day from community members.
