Last Assignment and Course Extension until the 18th of March

Go back to: General discussion
Hello everyone,

Congratulations. Welcome to our final week. I've extended the course until the 18th of March so we can have one last assignment and some extra fun. We don’t want you to have too much work this week. After all you’ve already reached this point and that's uber awesome. However we do want you learn something new. So here is what we have planned:

Client X has called. He is having a blast watching the statistics for his new photography site.
He started thinking how hard would it be to start selling his photos via his website.

In this final week you will help Client X to turn his photography site into a online photography shop.
The goal is to have a new page on Client X Website where he has listed all is photos with an associated price and possibly a link to some payment gateway (e.g. PayPal). Don't worry, it's not that complicated since you can use one of the availble e-commerce plugins for WordPress:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-e-commerce/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/eshop/

As usual for approval on this assignment you will need to provide a link to my e-mail at nuno.morgadinho@gmail.com with your p2pu username.

Cheers and don't forget, always Enjoy!

Hi Nuno

I've dropped out of the course because I'm inundated with work, but I wanted to recommend another approach to e-commerce and that's ecwid.com.

It integrates seamlessly and easily with Wordpress as well as Facebook. I love it and others might find it useful as a solution as well.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
Gregg

That is a nice looking shopping cart. Do you use the free edition?

Ecwid seems to be good for many reasons and easy integration into any project is the main feature. Recently i was trying to figure which ecommerece cms would be most optimal to use, and somehow i didn't consider wordpress. it'd be great if we had a discussion through chat about what wordpress is not a really good choice for, what do you think?

Danny, I've been using the free version up until about two weeks ago and they upgraded my account to Silver while I did a demo to the NYC Wordpress meetup group. It works really well for my needs and I love the UI.

Thanks, I used it and had it running in a very short period of time. Thanks!
