(don't laugh...very new here) I'm on a Mac - I need advice on purchasing WebHosting...considering HostMonster. Also, need advice on an FTP...considering FileZilla. And a text editor...considering TextWrangler.
I use Firefox (never Safari).
I can set this up quickly, absolutely sure of it - familiar with most of the lingo, just don't use frequently. I'm a quick learner & not afraid of any challenge.
I have the WP files downloaded onto the Mac, waiting to get some advice on the above before unwrapping it.
Thanks in advance for any help you all can give !!

For Webhosting -
I honestly can't say much. but it seems like hostmonster is getting good review for the price range. http://bestwebhosting.org/reviews/hostmonster-review
I say maybe you can try? You can also talk to your peers and ask their opinion.
For FTP -
I tried out Firezilla before and I think it was pretty good. I found the UI a little bit busy but it wasn't a major concern for me. it's free! so why not. :)
I'm using Cyberduck. It's also free. I think Cyberduck has more simpler UI. I feel it's a bit slow but it could be my machine too. :p
You can take a look at this link for more options: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/8-free-ftp-clients-for-mac/
For Text Editor -
I just tried out TextWrangler on my machine. I think It looks pretty decent. It highlights the keyword in different colors and makes it easy to read the code. no design view. but it's a free text editor so..
Server -
Hostgator.com, hands down. Amazing for wordpress, amazing for customer service. Here is a guide for picking a server for hosting wordpress too.
Editor-
TextWrangler offers a lot of features and goes beyond be just a text editor. It has great project functions and finding functions for mass editing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kSsqic-aKo <--- watch both tutorials
Oh, and here is another great add-on for textwrangler - BB AutoComplete! Now, I do not recommend this to people new to HTML/CSS because to truly learn the code, you must type the code out by hand. This add-on save you so much time.
For hosting, I use Laughing Squid at http://laughingsquid.us/. Their service is on the WordPress page at http://wordpress.org/hosting/. Not only they provide good service, but their whole website is built on WordPess. They even have a good tutorial for installing WordPress at http://laughingsquid.us/faq/wordpress/install/. If you use a different hosting, some of the details would be different. Over all it is clear and I followed the tutorial setting up WordPress successfully!

New week, new task? Is this the forum where everyone is going to go over their installs from the previous week and issues they ran into?
Hi Victor, New Week starts from Wednesday :)
This forum is for any question regarding each week's task+@.
Is there a new task for this week or I am missing something?
Hi Eugene and peers, I'm writing a new task and agenda at the moment.
Sorry for the delay but will be back to you in a few hours.
For now, please view http://seatomato.com/p2pu/template-for-specific-pages/
It is related to our new task.
Thanks!!!

Is this class over? I thought it was supposed to last 6 weeks but it hasn't been updated in a while...
Sorry about the delay, Lauren. I posted this week's task just now.
Thank you.
