I've got one question when he's done : Is professional journalism going to continue at its current level and if not, who will protect amateur journalists from legal and physical harm for investigative journalists in the way the big news agencies currently do. Programmer here!

and we need to keep an eye on "database rights" - some countries have that in addition to copyright. Be careful about projects that collect free content and then exert "database rights" to lock them up. Often screws up attempts to open API later.

in this weeks readings there is a line that says that it's easier to teach programmers to become journalists than to teach journalists how to program ;-)

Happy to have other people ask questions too, but I have another question about transparency and data - Lessig argues that too much belief in transparency without context can cause misunderstandings and false positives

About protecting journalists: Very dangerous in Mexico and further south, like Honduras, now. I watched Twitter explode with "golpe" in Honduras. Amazing. You can't stifle voices. Unlesss gov't kills them.

in Jake's case, I think he was fully transparent about his biases and connections; he never claimed to be unbiased... and that makes it fair, imo.
