Introduction thread

Go back to: General discussion

I figured since there's only ten of us taking this class, we might be able to have an introductions thread!

My name is Caden, and I have about 11 years of web application development experience, mostly on the back end.   I currently work for the State of Wisconsin (which you might have seen in the news recently...)  I've been tasked with making our web sites and applications more usable and accessible.  We recently approved jQuery for use as our standard library.  I need to learn how to apply it in ways that don't hurt web site accessibility, so I can help our other web developers incorporate it into our web applications.

I look forward to virtually meeting all of you.

Hi Caden!
sounds like a great job!

My name is Sean, and ive been developing websites for marketing and design firms for about 10 years now here in Houston. That experiance has landed me a job for a company that produces CMS solutions where i implement ASP.NET websites using a variety of frameworks like jQuery. On the side ive also managed to help with some of the easier python/Django tasks associated with the new P2PU website.

this is my second P2PU course in jQuery and in the future i hope to be able to lead a P2PU jQuery course as well.

Hello,

My name is Tony, I been have been working in web development for about 3 years. I work mostly with php and drupal for a local Grand Rapids MI based university. I don't have much experience with js or jquery, which is why I am taking this class. This is also my first time taking a P2PU course.

Can't wait to dig in!

HEllo, Everyone

My name is Manuel . . .
I have been a php developer for several years now and after studying javascript, I am really excited to start learning jquery. I have seen how it can be used for mobile apps when using jqtouch as well as standard web apps, and it makes the user experience incredible.

Ready to go . . .

Manuel

Hi I am Joel (JM) and I am a freelance website developer and marketing person in San Diego California. I know some javascript and have slightly tweaked some JQuery scripts but I don't feel I completely know what I am doing so I am looking forward to this course!

Hi, I am Ted and my primary occupation has been selling real estate in Breckenridge Colorado. But with the market downturn, I may look for an alternative. I developed my own website and my experience is limited to HTML and CSS.

Hi everyone, my name is Sally. This is the second P2PU course I have enrolled in (I'm also participating in Python101).
I have been building websites in HTML and CSS for over 10 years. I have recently had a tiny bit of exposure to JQuery and seen some of the amazing things it can do. I think it is time to expand my skill set.

Hi everyone !
My name is Prafull. I have been working in Java/J2EE for over 10 years. Front End design, however, is my weakness and I am hoping to improve upon it by attending this course and other such courses at P2PU.

Hi y'alls,
My name is Jeremy, and I'm currently a student in Southern California. I've touched java, C++, and python before, but I'm nowhere near proficient with those. I do know HTML and CSS, however. I plan to make more dynamic websites with Javascript or JQuery. Good luck everyone!
