How are we going to meet up during the course?

Go back to: General discussion

Dear Wouter,

Could you please tell us how are we going to meet during the course?

Please excuse my next question if it's stupid :D
Should follow the posts your adding or are you just preparing the material?

Thanks in advance,
Moe

Hi,

we'll meet in the chat room for the course (12PM GMT on Wednesdays), it is located at http://p2pu.org/node/10783/chat

It would be best if you try to do as much of the course material yourself, that way you learn the most and it also means less questions during the weekly meeting; that way I can make more time for the remaining questions.

Ideally, you should be able to follow along without any help, but if you need help I am always available through e-mail and through the weekly meetings.

Any chance we could slide that time a bit later? I'm on the American East Coast and it's 7am for me. 8am would be excellent, but I can understand it if there are more people that prefer this time.

If you want later, don't you mean p.m., not a.m.? I'm on the East coast as well, right now, the live chat will be at 2p.m. EST. Is that late enough for you or do you wish to request a time after the work day (at least, that's what I think you're asking to do)? GMT is two hours earlier than the EST. I hope that helps.

Elisha,

Brian is right. GMT is 5 hours ahead of East coast time.

Hi Wouter Cox,

I am in PST (GMT -8hours). It will be nice if you could move this by 1 hour. It is just a suggestion, but can understand your difficulty to match everybody's time.

The reason I put it at this date and time, is because that's about the only time that I'm sure I can make it every week. I'm not inclined to change it, but I will think about it. In any case, I am considering keeping chat logs for those unable to attend.

Hello everyone,
Would someone be able to post the Eastern Time for the meeting on WED?

Thanks in advance

David - subtract 5 hours from the GMT course time to get Eastern Time. 12pm - 5 = 7am.

Hello there Brian,
Thanks for the time information. I am not going to be able to make it. I am thinking that I will setup an irc client to capture the logs and study them once I get home from my day job.

Thanks again.

I won't be able to make that time either. When I took other courses, there usually was somebody who would get a log of the chats, and post it on the forum. We should definitely do something like that.

I don't know if I won't be able... But that idea sounds perfect!
