My section (and Fegus's) hasn't been added to this document yet; it's still in draft form on Google Docs. :) This page probably won't be finalized for at least another day (and is more just so you know who your admin is than for confirmation). So if you were accepted, than that's about as official as it gets!
Just curious, is there a wait-list for those of us that were not admitted and our application is still pending in case folks drop the course? Thanks! Paul
Hello all. I have just updated the list to the latest version of the draft the co-ordinators are using. If you received a message that you were accepted to the course but do not appear on the list, please bear with us. There were a lot of applications, which is awesome! Thank you to everyone who applied.
As Amy notes, this list is not intended to be an "accepted/rejected" list (though if your name is on this list, you have been accepted), the purpose of the list is to allow you to know who your co-ordinator is and who the other learners in your stream are. While I don't think that's intended as an indication that you must not interact with other instructors or learners, it's essentially to help us all balance our work load and interactions as we work through this to try to find the best way to facilitate your educational goals. Is it best, perhaps, to think of your section as the "primary" one to which you belong, but all of us as part of this course community?
If you have not received a message about your status in the course, please be patient. There are still a few seats open, so it's possible you will be accepted. The process of accepting and rejecting applicants is not easy. No one wants to say no, but the resources are finite. We have to consider what will work best for the co-ordinators and learners who are accepted.
I believe Matt already rejected all invalid applications, so if you are in limbo, you are still eligible for one of the few remaining spots. If you're not accepted, I would simply say that even the application process can be a learning experience. I will attempt to remember to post about how rejected applicants can perhaps be more successful in applying in the future. I'm also confident that this course will remain on the schedule for you in the next session, so you're not just out of luck if you aren't accepted now.
No, there isn't a waitlist as far as I know. The section size is chosen to reflect what Matt thought would best facilitate the classes and with a thought to the fact that not all students will elect to continue the course to completion. A waitlist would be a good idea, actually, for those course facilitators who would like to implement it; but there doesn't appear to be anything in the current P2PU platform that facilitates it. I think there's definitely room and opportunities for all of us to suggest ways to improve the platform, which is surely a work in progress. Good call, Paul.
