Week 1 - June 7 - 13 2010 Orientation and Introduction

In this first session, we will give an overview of course, and give facilitators/instructors and participants a chance to introduce themselves, explain whay they are taking the course and what their interests are. We'll also give a brief explanation of P2PU.

Participants will be able to discuss potential project ideas and see if working in a group is an option for any of the projects.

Participants will be given blog accounts and asked to set up or give existing Twitter account. (Twitter # tag #kmddj10)

We will discuss communication methods, set up a mailing list and decide how best to arrange discussions, and how we might want to organise online chat sessions.

Students to sign model release forms.

By the end of this week, you should have:

  • Decided how you will communicate with your group members.
  • Written a blog post about your personal motivation to join the course.
  • Written a blog post as a group about your project, and a self-introduction post on the group blog.
  • Participants should share links to interesting websites, tools and other topics that they would like to discuss during Class 2 about the tools.

You can let the group know what you've done by posting links to your blog and other links on the discussion forum here

Hi everyone

I've just joined twitter. I tried finding the group/thread using the search bar and typing in #kmddj10 but could not find anything. I don't think I'm using it right.

Where, and how, do we set up our blog accounts?

We're at #kmdp2puDJ. About

We're at #kmdp2puDJ.

About blogs, from Nob who's setting them up:

DJ-2010 page has been set up: http://kmd.ito.com/dj-2010/

As is shown there, participants can sign up for the MT blog by clicking
"Register" in the upper right-hand corder. Complying with the rule from
2009, "username" should be identical to Twitter's username, but others
are filled out appropriately. No need for Website URL.

To avoid spams, I will work on granting access to blogs only to real
users, so I will double-check with the list provided by the class admin.

Those who already have signed up for the 2009 class should have an
account and a blog, but I will move the portal from 2009 to 2010 for
these people so that their posts are shown at the DJ-2010 page instead
of DJ-2009.

Answered my own question.

& http://kmd.ito.com/dj-2010/ to set up blog.

Thanks Joi

You're using it correctly. Maybe, no one has used that hashtag, #kmddj10, at least, not yet.

And thanks for posting here... If it weren't for you, these activities wouldn't have come to my attention.

I registered for the blog but

Because I haven't gotten any form of confirmation...

didn't see this previously answered, but is it ok to use our own personal blogs (e.g. http://josephthibault.com) for these type of assignments? If so, where do we post the links after?

Sure, use your own blog or

Sure, use your own blog or the class blog and post a link on the introductions thread. http://p2pu.org/node/3838/forums/4036

Otherwise, just post the answers directly on that thread.
