Summary

Have you ever wondered if people are really rational?  Do you wonder how individual decisions relate to broader societal interests and market phenomena?  Would you like to help yourself and others make better decisions?

We will explore concepts from the field of behavioral economics and apply what we learn in areas related to our personal interests.

Human behaviour has always been a matter of curiosity for me. It keeps on changing depending on the circumstances a person is exposed to. When the same has economic implications the behaviour is dramatic. Its fun exploring the princilples behind the human behaviour and the econiomics of decision making. This can be a highly effective tool to manage the staff and improve negotiation skills in work areas.

I look forward to the course being offered again...this one appears to be closed. I'm a biologist and would be interested to consider the biological influences as well. A book that mirrors this topic, "Sexual Strategies: how females choose their mates" by Mary Batten, is a nice quick read that exposes behavior relative to natural selection. Enjoy your class!
