Application process

Go back to: General discussion

Applications officially opened yesterday, and numerous applications are still coming in. This is not a first come, first serve signup. This class has a limited number of seats, and I will be evaluating applications this weekend.

I will be considering whether to expand the class based on the number of excellent applications at the same time, and sending out a scheduling link, as well.

Notice to folks who applied before the course was opened and therefore had a rough time submitting the application task:

I was advised to remove everyone who signed up without needing approval (this was a bug) and ask them to re-apply, since the other option was to remove folks as I was approving later applications between this weekend and the 19th when signups close. It did not feel fair or evenhanded to not give everyone an equal chance to reapply in the same timeframe, so I'm doing it today.

I sent a broadcast to everyone, so if you were removed, it was only to ensure that everyone gets to submit via the application form. If you had already sent your tasks via my contact form, please say so in the signup task form, as I've kept all the emailed tasks. If you think you sent your tasks, but you are not sure - send me a message via my contact form before you send the signup form! I will get back to you within the day.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience, but this seemed like the best time to do it. Be assured it was not personal nor is it a reflection on your application task. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.

Applications are now closed! Thank you for your interest in the course Intro to Design and Usability in the January 2011 School of Webcraft.

Unfortunately, due to the size restriction on the course (even with additional facilitators) and the outstanding number of applications, there just wasn't room for everyone.

to all those who did not make it into the course: Please feel welcome to follow the course content and discussions through the P2PU website, as membership in the course is not required to observe and read the materials.

I hope that this course will also be offered again in the future.

Although I did not make it into the course, I'm happy to see the course material available.
Thanks Maura, I'll try to follow the course.
