Online session feedback

Go back to: General discussion

What's going on in this thread? This is a forum to post feedback about the online sessions: specifically, technical aspects such as the format, sound, organization. If you have questions about the content of the discussions and activities, etc, please post in the respective forums, weekly or topical.

What's this all about? Starting September 22nd we'll be hosting week-by-week online sessions for the pilot test of this course. These will be recorded and become resource for future participants to "learn-alongside" the first pilot group. Details about the online sessions is available here

Please post your feedback in this forum below. We hope you'll see direct improvements based on your feedback! If there is something personal you want to talk to myself directly about, you can contact me via my profile.

I received this feedback via the contact form from one attendee. I wanted to share it here in case anyone else has a similar question.

1) More orientation to the interface of the webinar software, fields and options and control panel.

2) Check levels of speaker's sound (Tom's sound was very loud). This is a good point, in fact, we didn't know Tom was going to attend. He made it in at the last minute. We had done a sound check at the start. Great point though, we should have asked.

3) Is a transcript of the sessions available? There won't be a transcript, but we will post the recording. I am uploading it today, and I will post the link here and send it out in Monday's email. (I wonder if it is possible to get an automatic transcript done? The audio sessions do pose an accessibility problem.)

4) Ensure we give a quick overview of "what will be shown" before the speaker talks.

Hi, is the link to the recording available yet please? It would be helpful to be able to catch up over the weekend. Unfortunately I'm likely to miss next week's session too.

Ditto on the link to this past week's webinar. So sorry I didn't make it. I look forward to attending the next one.

Hello Ida & K,

No worries if you can't make it. We assume we can't find a time good for everyone, that is why they are recorded.

In the future, to check any recording or find out what you've missed, please bookmark the Syllabus:
http://p2pu.org/document/syllabus-introduction-drupal

There you will see 'Recordings' list. So far there have been only 2:

Recording of orientation video, with Heather James: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub7XFT-rsRQ

Recording of Week 1 Online Session, with Doug Vann: http://www.viddler.com/explore/LearnDrupal/videos/1/

In the future, please go to the Syllabus - where all recordings and materials will be listed week by week.

Hi there
Sorry I missed the online session (thanks for chatting about my website choices) - I was confused what time the sessions were in South Africa. So will try to make the next one which is 7:00pm South Africa Standard Time.
Thanks
Laura

A great tool for keeping track of meetings across time zones is http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html.

@ Laura oh bummer, I only saw this message now. The sessions are on at 6pm SAST. We just finished a session right now. Recording available soon. Next week I hope you can make it.

Online session feedback this week. Great ideas!

1) Let's send out the Weekly activities on FRIDAY instead of Monday. Excellent idea! Will do.

2) Let's use live IRC chat instead of the "question window" in the webinar software. If you've never used IRC before, just click "chat" in the course menu above. You will see this:
