Hey guys,
I guess everybody is as excited as me to get started on this. A little more patience and we will get started on this soon.
Just so you know, this is how we are gonna play this game. Matt is gonna put up his material which I think will be an excellent one. Take some time to read and understand it. Try solving every week's assignment with the subject you have learned, And like they say, Doubts are the representation of learning, questions are gonna pop up in your mind and this is where I come in.
We will be helding up a Weekly meetings where I am gonna solve your problems and help you understand concepts which you couldn't understand. So, make sure you have marked your timings here http://whenisgood.net/tousifphpfun and do make sure that you are available at these timings or you are gonna miss a lot of important stuff.
I haven't yet decided the meeting point for our Group. Feel free to pour in some suggestions for that.
P.S. Also make sure that you leave your P2P username in the "Your Name" section to make it easy on me
Just so you know, these are all the people in my group.
Be cool and Have a Good Day!
Tousif
Hi Tousif
You could try https://voxli.com/
Skype is another good (multi-OS) solution.
Submitted my timings.
Heh, I managed to set up my very first php program here:
http://umust.be/mailer/tester.shtml
(I followed this tutorial http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/feedbackphp.shtml)
I'm confused - in the list of participants posted here:
http://p2pu.org/webcraft/node/13221/document/24157
I am listed in Amy's section. Which section am I in? Thanks!
Randy (rrosso)
@Randy Rosso yup, I was confused too. You have been moved to Amy's section. :)
@Simon Slangen yup,I think they charge for people more than 5. But anyway, thx for the suggestion. I will keep that an option too though. :)
@Maya Incaand Voxli is good. But voice chat will be kinda difficult for some people :) Thx for the input though. :)
Well, your attempt at that form is good. I like that humbleness of yours :) If you are looking for more basic tutorials then I suggest http://www.killerphp.com/ .
What time zone do those times whenisgood website refer to? I'm in the PST time zone (West coast, usa)
It will automatically adjust itself according to your current time zone.
@Tousif: Oops, wasn't thinking ahead that far. Apparently at least one person would need to have a Skype Premium account.
Free in-brower alternatives (20+ participants):

Hi Tousif
With voxli you don't need to turn on the voice just use the chat.
I recall using a similar thing called First Class, the problem is having some rules of who gets to speak when.
Webex and all those others, their free versions have a cap on participants, less than 20 (Webex is 25 but only for 14 days).
Thanks for the beginner scripts link.
I think we found one. Thanx for the input guys. :)
Sent the times. Looking forward to meeting you all!
Hello. I sent in my times. I'm in the Eastern time zone in the U.S. and am pretty flexible about meeting times after work.
These are all the people who have sent their timings for the weekly group meetings:
RobSommers
Whitfield
SimSla
Rachel Salmon
trekr5
smillieg
selfstudier
njwrigley
zzaban
Thachnh
portela
tristanl13
zetaquest
I request other members to complete this task as early as possible. :)
And I also request all the members of our group to upload a pic and a few words about themselves in their profiles. I like to know about you all. And I guess I haven't formally introduced myself but I will do that in our forum pretty soon after the course starts.
Tousif-
Thanks for picking up my application. I've submitted available meeting times.
Regards,
JWeb
Hi Tousif,
I just submitted my available times.
Cheers!
Herb
An idea for meetings, http://openwonderland.org/, but we don't want the technology to get in the way of learning technology :)
Thats a good one too Jeff. And btw...welcome to the group. :)
Thank you guys for setting up your time. There are still 5 people who need to complete it. Please make it fast. :)
There are still 4 members who need to complete this task.
