7 physical meetings will be held every Monday starting June 7, 2010 through July 26, 2010 in Tokyo at Keio University from 9:00-10:30 AM Japan Standard Time (JST). The facilitator, Joichi Ito, will participate physically or by video each week. Other participants will be able to participate via IRC, video, and/or telephone conference. (We will work out the technical details as we approach.)
Asynchronous communications will continue between classes on mailing lists and the class blog.
There will be readings assigned after each class TBD as in June.
Project team will determine the mode of communications most suitable for the members and the format of their project. The facilitators will help as much as possible and each project should present and articulate their mode of communications to their members, the group and the facilitators as soon as possible. Possible modes include physical meetings, a mailing list, regular Skype calls, instant messenger, a wiki or a blog. The quality, activity in and the effectiveness of this coordination method should be part of the final project presentation and factored into the assessment and grading. The KDM facilitator should be provided access to the full output/logs of the process for groups involving KMD students taking the class for credit.
