Hi all! A cheery top of the morning to you. I am sending you some links to the Global Brain, this week, starting off with Beth’s Blog (awesome BTW Beth –love it! thanks)

And here as per Demian’s suggestion is a blurb on “What is Consciousness?”

We would like to get a general "consensus" or perhaps "working definition" of "consciousness." What do you like/dislike about this this definition?
I like the definition very much for the reason that it is multi-tiered, anticipating and accommodating many different approaches to consciousness. I like that it differentiates between two different kinds of "awareness." And not surprisingly, I don't like the definition because of its complexity. Still, from the point of view of games design, one could use it as a kind of checklist to test the sophistication of the game. How many layers of consciousness does it fully engage, from sensation to first-person experience? I was really engaged by the FAQ, by the way. Much of this is brand-new material for me, and I'll need lots of time (perhaps more than we have in this class!) to digest it and transform it into something useful.
