Hello Good People,
We entered the fourth week of the course. The plan is to build How does open governance work in the various places in which it is currently found?
The idea was to start a discussion based on the work done the week before.
Now, some people have started a "project", others have not yet.
Personally I suggest that you continue to work on the task started last week, or that you start a project in case you have not done it yet, according to the indications here: http://p2pu.org/general/node/15762/forums/26115.
Please post your comments in the blog, as usual.

By the way, recall that the theme for this week is "Discussion and Integration of Concepts".
Certainly a blog post would be useful here, as well as any comments you care to make on blog posts from others.
We also need to decide whether we're going to have any live meetings this week. I'll be travelling and will have availability only for "evening" meetings (after 5 PM GMT) - if that!, but can set up any meetings the group likes.
Finally, I'll note that this course has been quite BUSY and I hope people will take some time now to "catch their breath"! I agree with Marisa that it would be good to start a project if you haven't done so already, but keep in mind that you don't have to *finish* the entire project this week! Sharing your *idea* for a project would be a great start.

updating progress on my project: (thanks to Dan for his help with the 909 forms)
* After a quick skim of the Free Software Foundation's 2009 "909" tax form, I found an intriguing aspect of their governance model, that of the 7 highest or "key" employees, only Executive Director Peter Brown received a salary, of $79,602. Nobody else got paid (from page 9).
** Thus the majority of the work done by the board is free. This implies a very high motivaiton for their board, something I would *assume* is not true for most non-profits and/or organizations in general. I'd tend to think this would make internal governance far more efficient, 'cause if you're not getting paid and still putting in the time you'd be highly unlikely to waste your time.
One suggestion: Carefully consider the wording about "the board" versus "employees". Most (all?) non-profits have volunteer boards, if I understand it correctly. Maybe I'm wrong. A side-point probably worth checking up on.
Charles, I suggest that you post this in the blog, so that we have all your project entries in one place!

Patrick here, chiming in after long silence. I shifted my attention to finishing my Bachelor degree (finally!) and with that out of the way enough, I'm excited to turn my attention here for the final days of the course.
I want to integrate everything we've written, and I think that my preferred tool is www.Booki.cc. My plan (that anyone is welcome to join): Take material from forums, Posterous, Wikiversity, and PiratePads, and sort it into this book:

Right now, with the material so spread out, I find it a bit tricky to tell what you all have done and talked about -- I think that will help me catch up on the course and get a clearer sense of what's going on in this course.

By the way, we are making an effort to put everything in the blog - for example, what we write in an etherpad then we copy and paste it in the blog, because etherpads can be unstable.
Therefore, it would be great if you could enter your stuff in our blog as well!! The blog is our main "collective" outcome.
CJD and I had fun yesterday playing with Zotero... easy importing and sharing for references (http://www.zotero.org/groups/paragogy, more coming there soon). This could be useful tool for a book project.
Regarding the blog: I agree it is a great place to put the outcomes of this course -- as you mentioned, the course will still be a "work in progress" at the end of these six weeks, and remixing the course contents into a book would be one cool way for it to stay "in progress". This reminds me that we should put the CC-By-SA license on the blog as well (assuming everyone agrees).
