Hi all,
I spent some time this evening trying to understand what I
need to do wrt to preparing a blog post. However, I did not
manage to get my thoughts in order.
I was wondering if anyone uses the IRC - I think it would be
useful for me to bounce some questions off people - not
sure if anyone else feels the same. (I guess that's a key aspect
of the P2PU concept - no?)
@Philipp - do you have any good solutions to IRC co-ordination
for groups such as this?

The idea of having an ongoing back channel for the duration of the course sounds great to me. Using the forums here sometimes feels a bit too formal for short questions or thoughts. I know, however, that IRC is tricky for some, and using it would add yet another, potentially overwhelming, communication thread for the course. That said, I hereby declare myself a non-geek who can handle IRC and would not be overwhelmed by its addition to the course.
I know the Digital Journalism used an IRC channel for some of their discussion, so there is precedent.
I, admittedly, am an avid user of IRC (right now in 10 channels on 3 networks) so the idea of joining one for this class seems like second nature to me.
There is already a #p2pu channel on Freenode, so [edit] lets use the chat tab above, which goes to #p2pu-general/open-governance [/edit] as our hangout. I'm there already.
(note: edited my comment so we don't fracture the discussion between two channels)

For the next 10 days, I probably don't have a huge amount of timezone overlap with most of you, but think it's a great idea to have an informal discussion channel.
The Chat tab for this course actually contains an IRC web client. Can you all access that?
The system auto-generates the channel name. I just checked and it uses #p2pu-general/open-governance. If we use that channel, the web-interface will work out of the box.
