I basically create this item to share this article. I think it explores some interesting points that are not directly consciousness related, but led to some of the course goals, when talks about a shift in the way we learn with games.

Wow, Demian, very intriguing.

Wow, Demian, very intriguing. I especially like the part about Cziksentmihalyi & Flow states (I am reading his book on The Evolving Self, which followed Flow) and wonder a lot about this, it seems like flow often happens with physical embodiment (rock climbing, playing piano, sports?) (but also teaching, playing with kids, chess)
It seems so important to have positive flow and ability to surpass one's own frustration. That seems really important.
Then
the point about the "thought experiment' of Albert Einstein is also good. I am curious about the power of perception and of changing our world view. It seems like it's about perspective.
I especially like "powers of ten" (check this out under course materials/websites) as one example.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this! Very exciting.

HI Miriam, The part about the

HI Miriam,

The part about the flow state grab my attention as well. I listed to that before, in the last two years I keep reading about games, learning and the possible damage kids get in their brains when gaming too much.

I wonder about design a game that put the players in a consciousness flow state, but with other players at the same time. Maybe the people that play MMORPG experience something near that today. Or the people that interact in social networks in real time. The physical aspect of flow could be explored in a mobile game or with sounds.

I guess that in a game, as in architecture, the outer setting change the inner setting, by challenging perception.

Nice you like the link!

I am thinking also that

I am thinking also that collective flow states, such as the social networks, or people who are all working on a group problem on line, may very well be creating a 'flow network." So if we could get a lot of groups all working together on these projects or games (like, they can all only be solved if enough people give pieces of the information) then it would be a ... catalyst? Maybe it's already happening, in fact, but I am also seeking a more centralized "consciousness" focus. Check out the new postings about Global Brain, Peter Russell, Global Brain FAQs and so forth under the Course Materials and Forum this week1

By the way what is MMORPG?
Also do you (or does anybody) know if people using Wii systems go into a flow state? Is anybody looking at flow and computer interface?

I saw an article on line about that ... let's see if I can find that link.

Hi Mirian, MMORPG is acronym

Hi Mirian,

MMORPG is acronym for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. People in this games seems to getting in a flow state right now. But as in Social networks it's possibly unconscious.

Not exactly what you want about the Wii but interesting:

I love my Wii and definitely go into a flow state, especially when I'm in training mode and I'm hitting tennis balls or taking batting practice. And frankly, for me, Wii boxing is unequaled for creating a flow state!

It would be an ARG! Check out:

Wow! These are also amazing! This is so cutting edge (for me) -- good to see my imagination has not caught up with reality. I really love the gamestarmechanic!
Are you or have you been involved with any of these sites? They are astounding!

Thanks! Fascinating! (Check these out, everybody!)

Sadly no, I was not involved.

Demian! That Fast Company site is brilliant! How cool was that. Did you notice, by the way, that there is another site on their website
http://www.fastcompany.com/1694155/marvell-giving-100k-to-education-app-...
where they are announcing Marvell is giving away 50,30, and 20 thousand dollars to educational designers? Whew! very interesting!
Thanks for turning me on to that.
