1. What was the best thing about the Find, Author, Share course?
Hearing from people around the world about their use of OER experiences. Potential future collaborators.

2. What did you learn that you can apply going forward? Though I knew most of the basics, the course did push me to consider the authoring aspect for the first time.

3. How could this course be enhanced to make it better logistically? The p2pu platform is a rather limited course management system. I wish it had been built on Moodle or something similar.

4. What OER topics or issues do you feel were missing or insufficiently covered? I think having find, author & share as overall goals is too much. Each could be its own course. Just finding a textbook to evaluate for adoption is a major achievement for most people.
Authoring is overwhelming and impossible in 5 weeks, but a course on that alone might get someone started with resources and might help facilitate collaboration.

Una - thanks for donating your time and resources in promoting open textbooks.
I still know (too) many people in education who don't understand why anyone would teach a course for free, and why anyone would take one for no "credit."

What was the best thing about the Find, Author, Share course?
Learning about many new open access web sites.

2. What did you learn that you can apply going forward?
The open access sites will help me bring more variety to my teaching with open access. My classes now use limited open access, and I'd like to get them up to at least 75% for the fall semester.

3. How could this course be enhanced to make it better logistically?
I, too, found this platform somewhat ungainly. I got lots of email, and I did try to change that to a daily summary, but that seems not to have worked. I was also not always sure who had written something. I had to search for an email or some other identifier. The platform is not ideal for group work.

4. What OER topics or issues do you feel were missing or insufficiently covered?
There was lots of good information; perhaps too much. Maybe a smaller focus would mean enhanced participation.

5. Please add any other feedback on the course.
I loved the class--it helped to keep me on track in moving forward with open resources. Keep 'em coming. (S. Amper)

For me, the best part was sharing of OER sites. Whenever I ran into a wall, someone would find additional sites, and I'd be off again.

First off, my original plan was to find books to use in our new MA program, but the more I thought about it, I wanted to do a text for one particular class. Because of the requirement to be part of a group and focus on something we all wanted to research, I met (virtually) some great teachers who guided me along the way--Susan I want to meet you in person. I also wrote a grant to get softchalk software for to use for the book. While the grant was only funded for 1/3 of the cost of the program, my department chair committed to funding the rest. So today, I'm going to spend my heart out. Finally, I wish more people had been at our meetings because I always learned so much from each and every presentation--not just the material presented, but the added comments from other participants. This course was a great experience, and I'll be looking forward to others.

Thanks for offering this timely and valuable course.

I registered for this course to find open books in Accounting that I can recommend for adoption, and I did find one book which is, now, under serious consideration for adoption at my institution - Houston Community College.

If possible, I would like to re-register for this course to catch up with missed parts - tools, licenses, and authoring.

Thanks Una Daly.

1. What was the best thing about the Find, Author, Share course?
Learning from colleagues about their experiences with OERs. The second best thing was the sharing of resources - in my case, have access to a huge amount of resources that I didn’t know existed.

2. What did you learn that you can apply going forward? Because I’m looking into OERs policies at the moment, I didn’t have the chance to author an OER yet and like Kenneth the course also pushed me to consider the authoring aspect more seriously.

3. How could this course be enhanced to make it better logistically? I also think that the course could have a better platform.

4. What OER topics or issues do you feel were missing or insufficiently covered? I agree with my colleagues. I wished we had more time to learn and discuss about Authoring and that requires a lot more time than 5 weeks.

5. Please add any other feedback on the course.
I really enjoyed being part of this course. I particularly liked our weekly meetings – even though I know that it was difficult for some because of the time zones!

I also would like to thank you Una for your time, the useful resources you provided us and for the prompt response to our emails.

Best,
Carina
