Weekly meetings and Timezones

Go back to: General discussion

Hey guys,

it seems that we are all over the world so we will have to find times that suit most of us for weekly meetings.
I don't mind organising more than 1 meeting a week, as long as I can meet with all of you at least once a week.
The meetings will be at the Community server at: http://owf1.virtualnorthstar.org:8080/wonderland-web-front/

I am in Dublin Ireland, timezone: GMT
We can use something like this service to check times:

 http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/

And something like doodle to poll for best times: https//www.doodle.com
I have created a poll to choose a day, please vote! you can find it here:

http://doodle.com/2xuffk85bnas3dgx

Please update this thread with your timezone and some initial preferences, and let me know if this suits or you have other ideas!

cheers,
José

Michel, the course is supposed to start on the 26th, but if there is any problem we could leave it for a week, if that suits better.

José

For me there's never a week looking like another one, so I will do my best to make myself available for all the sessions.

Prefered times "in general" look like:
- 5pm, 6pm or 7pm my time (GMT+1), which is:
- 4pm, 5pm or 6pm GMT - José's time)

Hey guys, 3 things regarding times:

First; just checking if I got it all right... We have (so far):

GMT -8 : Baba, Bosco, and Brian

GMT -5 : Marlon, Morris, and Phil

GMT 0 : Jos

GMT +1 : Michel

(I can't find a time for that suits everybody so I might organise more than 1 meeting.)

Second; After the voting in Doodle, Thursdays and Fridays have most votes (6 each). Anyone has a strong preference for one or the other?

Third; Do you guys want to start meeting this week, or we start with the reading materials this week and we can leave the first meeting for the week starting on the 31st?

Let me know what you guys think!
cheers,
José

José,

Usually when there are both US and Eur people, one could try something like 5 or 6pm your time (GTM) ? But I've not re-read the time windows given by everybody of us ...

For me, Thursdays are far better than Fridays (especially because Fridays' mid-to-late afternoon my time a dentist is often waiting for my visit..).

Regarding starting this week or not, I am neutral ...

Thanks Michel, that is one for Thursdays then. I'm finishing another Doodle poll with times that 'could' suit us all. Will post the link as soon as I'm done with it.

cheers,
José

Guys, here is another Doodle poll with some times that 'might' work. I realise some are out of the times suggested by some of you so please let me know if you have major problems with them:
http://doodle.com/andkpdfsk2wvxz9g

If we cannot set a time, I'll start working on scheduling 2 meetings.

Thursday or Friday are both be fine with me (US Pacific Time Zone - (GMT - 8).
From the poll it seems like 12:00 (GMT - 8) works for most of us. I'd be fine with that time. (I should be able to manage a one hour slot between 12:00 and 15:00 GMT -8 )

Hi Jos,

I am from India (GMT + 5.30). Most of the timings given comes in the night times. It would be good if the meeting timings are between GMT 17.00(or earlier) to GMT 19.00.

Richards

Hi guys, it's 13 of us now in the group and going from GMT - 8 to GMT + 5.30, so it is going to be a bit difficult to organise meetings for all at the same time.

It is time for Plan B --> I still hope to get all of you (or most of you) together at least a couple of times throughout the course, but I think that after the first weekly meeting, when we all more or less have an idea of what we are more interested on, it would be good to split the group (at least in two smaller groups).

I have created a third doodle poll to see what you are most interested on: http://doodle.com/4aavapxdkq3rqmmx

I won't be looking at the results of that until the end of next week!

Cheers,
José

I'm in NJ (USA), timezone is UTC/GMT -5 hours. I am available at different times on different days. So I wasn't quite sure how to represent that in the doodle time period poll....

Hey Nina, yeah, the poll is quite limited but after the first week we'll create smaller groups and it will be easier for all to meet (hopefully!)

José
